Most of the damage is one surface inside an app you have real reasons to keep. DoomBlock turns off that surface and leaves the rest working. There are seven of them, and each one switches independently.
- Seven surfaces. YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok videos, Snapchat Spotlight, LinkedIn video, and X video on both Home and Explore.
- Messages still work. A Reel someone sends you in a DM still plays. The allowance ends the moment you scroll from it into the infinite pager.
- Go further if you want. Stories, Explore and the home feed can each be blocked too. Those steer you back to an allowed screen with a small notice instead of a full block.

Prices are in US dollars and are converted by Google Play for your country. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; cancel in the Play Store and DoomBlock keeps working until the period you have paid for runs out. An account is required, because a subscription is verified against one. If you bought the old one-time lifetime unlock, it still works and always will. You never need to subscribe.
Before you install
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. DoomBlock is Android only today, and an iOS version is planned for the future.
Does it read my screen?
It reads three things, and only to compare them against your own block list: which app is in the foreground, the address shown in your browser’s address bar, and, if you turn on blocking inside other apps’ browsers, the text of web pages opened in them.
All of it is compared on your device and discarded immediately. None of it is stored, and none of it is ever sent anywhere. It does not read your messages, your passwords, or what you type. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
Can I uninstall DoomBlock to get around a block?
By default, yes. Nothing stops you removing the app.
If that is the loophole you want closed, turn on Strict Mode. DoomBlock then registers as a device admin, which stops the app being uninstalled while a block is running, and turning Strict Mode back off takes your PIN and a wait of 24 hours.
That permission does nothing else. DoomBlock cannot lock your device, wipe it, or change any other setting.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Blocking stops, and your setup stays exactly where you left it. Groups, schedules, limits and lists are never deleted or altered, so renewing picks up where you were with nothing to restore.
Do I need an account, and does it work offline?
An account is required, because your subscription is verified against one. Once you are signed in your setup is backed up and syncs to any device you sign in to.
Blocking itself runs entirely offline: every decision is made on the device. If you lose connectivity, DoomBlock keeps enforcing for a week before it needs to check your subscription again.
Are there ads?
No. DoomBlock has no ads, no advertising SDK, and no advertising identifier. The subscription is the entire business model.
