Most of the damage is one surface inside an app you have real reasons to keep. DoomBlock turns off that surface and leaves the rest working. Nine apps are covered, and each one switches independently.
- Nine apps. YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok videos, Snapchat Spotlight, LinkedIn video, X video on both Home and Explore, Reddit’s Popular, News, Latest and Games tabs, and Pinterest’s pin viewer.
- Messages still work. A Reel someone sends you in a DM still plays. The allowance ends the moment you scroll from it into the infinite pager.
- Go further if you want. Stories, Explore and the home feed can each be blocked too. Those steer you back to an allowed screen with a small notice instead of a full block.

Prices are set per country and are lower in lower-income ones. Google Play charges you in the currency it bills your account in, at the price set where you are, and tax is Play's to handle: where your market quotes prices inclusive of VAT or GST, the price already includes it, and where tax is added on top instead, Play shows the final amount before you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; cancel in the Play Store and DoomBlock keeps working until the period you have paid for runs out. No account is needed to subscribe — a Play subscription proves itself on the device. The lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: nothing renews and nothing expires, and anyone who bought the earlier one-time unlock keeps it. You never need to subscribe.
Before you install
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. DoomBlock is Android only today, and an iOS version is planned for the future.
Does it read my screen?
Some of it, and only to compare against your own block list:
- which app is in the foreground;
- the address shown in your browser’s address bar;
- in apps like Instagram or TikTok, the on-screen labels that say which surface you are on — the Reels tab, or a DM;
- the text of web pages opened inside other apps, if you turn that on.
Every check happens on your device and is discarded at once. Nothing is stored, nothing is sent. It cannot read your messages, your passwords, or what you type. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
Can I uninstall DoomBlock to get around a block?
By default, yes. Nothing stops you removing the app.
If that is the loophole you want closed, turn on Strict Mode. DoomBlock then registers as a device admin, which stops the app being uninstalled while a block is running, and turning Strict Mode back off takes your PIN and a wait of 24 hours.
That permission does nothing else. DoomBlock cannot lock your device, wipe it, or change any other setting.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
You keep one block group running, and your setup stays exactly where you left it. Groups, schedules, limits and lists are never deleted or altered — the ones over the free limit simply stop being enforced until you subscribe again.
Do I need an account, and does it work offline?
No. You can set up and use DoomBlock without signing in, and blocking never needs a connection — every decision is made on the device.
Signing in adds cloud backup and sync across devices. If you skip it, your setup is still backed up to an account with no email attached — see the Privacy Policy.
Offline, a subscription keeps working for a week before Google Play is re-checked.
Are there ads?
No. DoomBlock has no ads, no advertising SDK, and no advertising identifier. The subscription is the entire business model.
